The design of the coin features the rendition of Augustus Saint-Gaudens's Lady Liberty in full form with obverse depicting a male eagle on flight seen with his nest beneath. While holding a torch in the right hand and an olive branch on the left the Lady Liberty carries the message of liberty on one side, the obverse symbolizes American families.

Unlike other coins, the US Gold Eagle Coins carry market value generally about equal to the market value of their gold content. They are popularly used in funding government sanctioned IRAs and as legal tenders.
